It was the fall of 2014 when I approached Lincoln Stiles with an idea of putting together an alumni game for both boys and girls soccer. He was relieved when I said I wanted to do the event in the fall of 2015, giving us plenty of time to plan. To Lincoln's credit he didn't hesitate. I started planning the event, while Lincoln was busy winning a District Championship.

The idea came from an original attempt of an alumni game, where only five people showed up. There were several alumni events going on at Oakmont during the summer of 2011. Oakmont had just graduated it's 51st class. I remember being very excited when I heard rumblings of an alumni game, but when I showed up and saw myself, my brother and three of our friends I realized there would be no game. A few years passed and thought why not plan one myself ?

I had been part of a class that was able to play on turf for three years and under the lights all four years. I remember my older brother's teams raising money for the lights and my oldest brother never getting to play under the lights or on turf. Part of setting up the alumni game was to be able to have those same alumni who helped raise money for things like the lights to be able to come back and play under the lights for the first time. Also like previous members of the Oakmont community who had given back, it was now my time to give back.
